Basic Makeup Tutorial Guide For Beginners in the Philippines

Welcome to the magical world of makeup! It’s a place where you can express yourself  and explore yourself through creating different looks with different kinds of makeup that are available in the Philippines. We know that if you’re just starting out, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear. We’ve got some full-proof makeup tips to get you started! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never so much as applied powder on your face, or maybe you’ve just been searching for a fuss-free routine. This is it. These are our top makeup secrets for beginners in the Philippines.

1. Start with a clean base!

Start by washing your face with this organic face wash.

Wash your face! Start your day off with a good facial wash. We’ve particularly been reaching for Plant Apothecary's Wash Your Face Organic Face Wash. This organic, and gentle cleanser will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. You can then use the Bye Bye Blemish Witch Hazel + Tea Tree Skin Toner which will soothe and restore the natural balance of your skin. An important step when prepping your face is applying the right moisturizer. The Momo Puri Gel Cream is great because it’s moisturizing and light, which is a big plus in our humid weather.

2. SUNSCREEN!

Next is to apply sunscreen using our Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Air-Fit Sunscreen.

Protect your skin with sunscreen, and have a dedicated sunscreen and apply a generous amount on your face. The recommended amount is a tablespoon worth of sunscreen for your face. Don’t forget the tops of your ears and your chest. Makeup is great, but first we need to protect our skin from harmful rays that cause wrinkles and sun damage. One of our favorite products is the Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella Air-Fit Sunscreen no matter your complexion this product not only protects your skin, but was also formulated to even out your skin tone and keeps your skin matte, making it the perfect base for all your makeup creations.

3. BB Cream

Next is to apply BB Cream by using Dear Klairs' Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream.

Here’s why we say BB Cream and not foundation: BB Creams are more forgiving. If you’re a beginner or looking for something fuss-free, BB Creams are the way to go. The sheer formula is great and you don’t have to pick an exact shade match because they can go on pretty sheer, but still help even out your skin tone and give your skin a nice glow. Dear Klairs’ Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream is perfect because it’s a color-adjusting formula and it contains SPF 40, PA+++ (but still, please don’t skip your sunscreen). You can just apply a thin layer on your face and rub this on with your clean hands just like you would your moisturizer. Simple. Quick. Easy.

4. Eyebrow Gel

Next on this basic makeup guide is to apply eyebrow gel.

Even the best makeup masters can mess up their eyebrows, so to ease you into doing your brows, a simple eyebrow gel is enough to dress up your brows without having to take forever drawing in each hair. Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel is a cult favorite for a reason, and in the shade Espresso, it is a perfect match for our dark hair! Start by running it upwards from the front to the center portion of your brow, and outwards towards the tail and they should be good to go.

5. Blush

Next step is to add your blush on of your choice.

Cream blush. Find a cream blush that suits your skin tone, and you’re set for life. A nice rosy color like Human Nature’s Perfect Flush Cream Tint in the shade Rosy is an amazing option. It’s not too bright. It’s subtle and ends up looking just like you saw someone cute walk by. Smile in the mirror and you’ll see the apples of your cheeks. Take some product and apply a few dots  with the applicator. Pat the product in with your fingers. Start with less product and build up to your preferred color by adding a few more dots! Now with the leftover blush on your fingertips, dab at your eyelids to give it a bit of color.

6. Mascara

Next on our makeup guide for beginners is to add mascara.

We’re not gonna mess around with eyelash curlers. Not in this routine. Instead, we’ll be using curling mascaras! The 1 Day Lash Up Silky Long Mascara is a self-curling mascara so all you have to do is apply and voila! You’ll have long, curled lashes to frame your gorgeous peepers. In case you don’t know how to apply mascara, you put the mascara wand as close to the base of your eyelash as you’re willing to get and either drag it outwards, or you can blink. Easy as that. Just remember to not blink too hard while the mascara is wet so as not to make a mess. (If you do though, just take a makeup wipe or a q-tip dipped in makeup remover and gently wipe it away.

7. Don't forget your pucker!

Finally, don't forget your pucker to complete your makeup.

Finishing your easy makeup look with a tinted lip balm! Something like Dr. Pawpaw Balm 25ml Tube - Ultimate Red is nice because it doesn’t only moisturize, but also adds color to your lips. It takes less than a minute to apply this on your lips and  you can head right out the door.

If needed, you can also use oil blotting papers to keep yourself looking fresh.

Quick tip: Creams are fun and easy to reapply throughout the day, but if you have a tendency to get greasy, don’t forget to have a pack of Beauty Bar’s Charcoal Oil Blotting Papers handy to pat away the shine.

Makeup is supposed to be fun and should be enjoyed so don’t stress about it! Apply what makes you feel comfortable and gives you that boost of confidence to go through your day!
