Having already been established in the beauty business as Nature’s Therapy, a company known for the brand Professionäl which targeted the market’s need for high quality, reasonably priced salon quality hair care goods in a retail setting Rocky and Bethany Pagliarulo purchased the trademarks for DeMert and Dougherty in 2000. 

Being industry veterans who recognized DeMert Brands’ Nail Enamel Dryer as number one in the industry, they simplified the name to DeMert Brands and continued developing existing business, expanding distribution and adding goods to extend product lines.

Two thousand eight brought initial ideas for a new brand called Not Your Mother’s – a development born from the need for a superior quality hair care line for tweens, teens and young adults at a price point compatible with their reasonable budgets. 

After a quiet launch with six items in 2010, in approximately 400 Walmart stores, the brand can now be found in over 25,000 stores nationwide and over ten countries worldwide with 31 items and more continually in the works.
