Beauty Bar's Take on a Sunkissed Makeup Look this Summer
It may be summer and we’re trying to get our beach babe glow on, but with the pandemic happening, it’s kind of a challenge. Don’t worry though, a few tricks can help you get the summer sun kissed makeup look of your dreams. And even if you look warm and toasty because you’re one of the lucky ones that can get to the beach this summer, these products and application tips can enhance the island god/dess vibe you’ve already got going. Here are some of
Beauty Bar's recommendation to makeup to use this summer in the Philippines.
First and foremost, SUNSCREEN! You want to be protected when you step out in the sun, and while a tan is super cute, a sunburn is not. So slather on that SPF, the higher, the better. A sunblock like BioBalance Sunprotect Face SPF 50+ is a great formula for layering under your makeup. It’s light and easily absorbed into the skin, leaving behind no sticky residue. If you prefer something tinted, BioBalance has two options for you! The Aknsun Matte Tinted Medium SPF50+ formulated for people with oily skin types, and the Sunspot Tinted Medium SPF50+ that is suited for combination to dry skin types. Any of these can serve as the perfect base for your tantalizing summer look.
Now application is key. A large fluffy brush is great if powders are your thing. Something like the CALA Urban Studio Powder Brush is great for blending out powders for seamless application. Sponges are better if creams are your preference. Using the CALA Urban Studio Ultimate Blending Sponge will help you pat out products and ensure a natural finish to your look.
Bronzer is going to be the biggest game changer for your summer look. Pick a product that is a shade or two darker than your skin tone, but make sure it has a warmer undertone. Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is a cult classic in the powder category, and Prestige Cosmetics Sun Flower Illuminating Bronzing Powder. Prefer a cream? Perricone MD No Makeup Bronzer or Beauty For Real’s Bronze + Glo is easy to throw on! Apply your chosen bronze on the perimeter of your face, and add a bit more on the high points. This means the tops of your cheeks and your nose bridge. If you want to add a little color to your eyelids, swipe whatever product is left on your brush or sponge across your eyes.
Next step: blush! Lily Lolo’s Coralista Cheek Duo is a beautiful color for the summer. It’ll give you that gorgeous natural flush. Beauty For Real’s Blush + Glo in Coral Crush + Hi-Beam does the same, but in a cream formula. Sweeping either right across your cheekbones and across your nose bridge will give you that just-got-out-of-the-sun look. Tap the remaining blush from your applicator on the center of your forehead. Also make sure that there is a seamless blend between your bronzer and your blush! You don’t want a harsh line between the two. Summer look or not, that isn’t usually the effect you want from your makeup. For an added oomph to your look, both the blush options we mentioned have a highlighter which you can apply to give your skin more of a dewy look.
For a few finishing touches, a touch of Full Brow Clear Brow Gel on your beautiful brows and a coat of K-Palette 1 Day Lash Up Silky Volume Mascara to frame your lovely eyes. Add a little bit of color to your lips with the Dr. Pawpaw Balm 25ml Tube in Ultimate Red and you’re good to go! Now you’re ready to strut your stuff on the beach or on the city streets.
